Our band in the latest AsiaLIFE issue!
This month's issue of AsiaLIFE features Cambojam in an article about the music scene of Siem Reap. The focus is on the friendliness among musicians in this town. I think that things have changed recently when we, the musicians of Siem Reap, tried to get together and form an association. Although this didn't result in a formal association, the general "team/group" spirit remained. New bands have emerged and we've met several times...just to jam :)
It was certainly nice to have Steve Cadd in town for a couple of months, what a great musician he is. We'll miss you ;)
RESPECT to the other great musicians mentioned in the article: Deborah, Trick and our own Bertrand... Let's also not forget the great work done by Milo, Aya's music education organization that supports local musicians and organizes workshops and teacher training in Cambodian schools (http://www.facebook.com/milo.angkor)
Although it's true that the music scene is developing, there's still a lot of things missing. There's no good music instrument shops in Siem Reap (or even in Cambodia...). There's also a limited amount of good music venues although some places have done an effort lately. And most importantly, there's no place where musicians - Cambodian and other nationalities - can meet, be themselves, share ideas, organize workshops, rehearse, have try-out gigs, experiment...and so on.

TIPS for a Happy Life
This photo is one of those rare moments that we get freebies on stage...
The best part about playing the streets is getting those TIPS :-)
It's been a while since we got some free cash actually... Guess the world is indeed in an economic crisis....
Band Fact: Every song request you make with us will cost you USD 5 LOL!
